Your day begins with a comfortable pickup from your hotel at 9:30 AM, ready to explore the natural and historical wonders of Cappadocia.
Göreme Panorama & Pigeon Valley
The tour starts with a stop at Göreme Panorama, offering breathtaking views over the valley that stretches toward Uçhisar. Along the way, you’ll discover Pigeon Valley, named for the countless dovecotes carved into the soft volcanic rock. Even today, pigeons still nest in these caves, creating a timeless connection between people and nature.
Derinkuyu Underground City
We then visit the incredible Derinkuyu Underground City, the deepest in Cappadocia, reaching down through 8 levels. This vast subterranean network once provided refuge for thousands of people and remains one of the most fascinating marvels of ancient engineering.
Nar Lake
Afterwards, we continue to Nar Lake, a tranquil volcanic crater lake surrounded by scenic views—perfect for a short pause to take in the natural beauty.
Güzelyurt – Birthplace of St. Gregory
Our journey continues to the town of Güzelyurt, famously known as the birthplace of St. Gregory of Nazianzus, one of the early Christian Fathers.
Ihlara Valley
Next, we arrive at the spectacular Ihlara Valley, the largest, deepest, and longest canyon in Cappadocia. Often described as a hidden paradise, the valley enchants with its lush greenery, dramatic cliffs, and the gentle flow of the Melendiz River. Along the way, you may see sheep and other animals grazing, tended by local villagers.
Here, we enjoy a 3 km hike along the riverside path, surrounded by striking rock formations and the serene beauty of nature.
Selime Monastery
The hike concludes with a visit to the awe-inspiring Selime Monastery, the largest cave monastery in Cappadocia. Carved into the rocks with towering pinnacles, this unique site offers a striking blend of history, spirituality, and natural grandeur.
Return to Hotel
Following the tour, we drive back to your hotel, bringing the day to a close.
Optional Extension
For those who prefer a longer trek, you may choose to hike the full length of the Ihlara Valley (approximately 14 km). This option is available only on a Private Tour, offering a more immersive and adventurous experience of the valley’s natural beauty.
